We Service & Install Dryer Vents

At Blue Sky Chimney Sweeps, we specialize in maintaining, repairing, and installing the systems that vent harmful byproducts from your home — and that doesn’t just mean chimneys. Our experienced technicians are also trained to provide expert dryer vent services.

Chimneys and dryer vents have a lot in common. Both work to contain, carry, and vent toxic gases, high heat, and other byproducts of combustion away from your living area. And when they’re not properly maintained, both can cause serious fire hazards.

Most of us know how dangerous it is to neglect our chimneys. But not everyone is aware of just how important it is to make sure that your dryer vent system is properly installed and regularly de-linted. According to figures from the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), nearly 17,000 fires related to dryer vents occur each year, resulting in lost lives, injuries, and millions of dollars in property damage. The cause that’s most commonly cited for dryer fires is failure to clean.

Why Is Dryer Vent Lint So Dangerous?

We’ve all gotten into the habit of cleaning the lint trap in our dryer each time we run a load, because we know it inhibits the proper function and the safety of the dryer if we don’t do so. But the little bit of lint in that trap is just a small percentage of the lint produced when you dry a load of laundry. More of that lint travels through your vents as the air and gases produced by your dryer travel out of your home. And over time, that lint can build up in the ducts.

Why is that a problem? For starters, it clogs your vents, much like hair and debris clog plumbing pipes. The air can’t properly pass through the ducts, because lint has constricted the space through which that air travels. That produces several results, all of them unwanted. When your dryer can’t vent properly, it can’t dry properly, so you’ll regularly find damp clothes in your machine. A dryer that isn’t venting properly can also prevent poisonous carbon monoxide from venting out of the home, and allow it to seep into the air supply instead. And as that heated air is traveling through your lint-clogged ducts, it will get held up in there, producing increased temperatures, and potentially igniting the highly combustible lint, leading to a home fire.

The surefire way to avoid all that is to make an appointment with Blue Sky Chimney Sweeps and take advantage of our Dryer Vent De-Linting Service. With our technicians on the job, you can rest easy, knowing that your dryer vents are clean and clear.
